A letter to me

I hope you find the balance between love for others and love for yourself.
that it's okay to put you first.
Choose you.
Be selfish.
Fill your own cup.
I pray you embrace the happiness that comes with being full.
I hope you one day let go of the burden you place on yourself,
the unhealthy pressure of living your life for your parents.
I hope you overcome the battles of being a black sheep in a family who always seems to make you choose...
between the vietnamese and american in you.
You always saw yourself as the best of both.
I pray that the generational curses won't break you.
Let's find the strength.
I hope you allow the lessons to come in & out of your life with full embrace.
I hope you move through the low's as gracefully as you do with the high's,
understanding that there is a purpose for it all.
I pray you experience the beauty in overcoming.
I hope you learn to love your whole-being.
Those curves that make you question if you'll ever be the "right" size,
the voluminous hair you've always had a hate/love relationship with,
even the period pimples that are always annoyingly on time.
I pray you become more gentle on yourself.
I hope let go of the anger, pain, and recklessness that continue to cloud over you,
they seem to always be getting you in trouble...
but never forget - your resilience, strength, and fearlessness make up some of the best parts of you.
I hope you never let go of that fire in you.
I pray you find the balance.
I hope you let more people in,
more of the right people in.
The ones that will mirror the love, effort, and respect you have and always will give to others.
I hope you'll learn that love should never feel one-way,
that it should never feel so draining, so forced.
I hope you experience how easy loving someone could & should be.
I pray you find the love we all know you deserve.
I pray that in this life,
in all of its madness and uncertainty,
you find your way.
